Schools could close Friday morning in Central New York as wind chills drop to dangerous levels.
The wind chill in Syracuse could reach 20 below zero, according to the National Weather Service. That's a threshold many superintendents use in closing schools.
Buffalo and Lockport schools have already announced they won't be open Friday. We haven't heard of any in Central New York yet, but we'll update this story if we do. Wind chill warnings are in effect across much of Upstate New York. Wind chills could drop as low as 30 below in the Adirondacks tonight.
Saturday morning could be even colder, but a warming trend starts Monday.
